Access to materials in the closed stack areas of the Library of Birmingham will be introduced in the Spring of 2014. (These items are indicated by an A or B in front of the classification number in the catalogue.)
We understand how popular these materials are, but further work is needed before the service can be properly introduced. This work had been planned for early autumn but the continuing high (and welcome) popularity of the new library has meant that staff have been working hard on those services based in the open public areas.
We would like to thank all customers for their continuing patience.
Choosing books in the Library of Birmingham
In some parts of the library, you will find lending and reference books together. Please remember that only the books with yellow labels on the spine can be borrowed. The books withwhite labels are for use in the library only.
We make every effort to keep our catalogue accurate. However, if you’re planning to travel to a library to borrow an item, we recommend that you telephone first to check that it’s available –Library addresses and phone numbers.
